Free animated birthday ecard, ready in under a minute

A birthday card that moves, makes noise and shows their name in big letters: that's what the Cardiboo machine makes, for free and without an account.

Type their name (and their age if you like: it shows up in gold balloons), pull the lever, and a little scene plays: a giant gift, a rocket, a piñata or a confetti cannon. You can even put their real face on a character.

How to make it, step by step

  1. Open the machine on “Birthday”: the button below does it for you.
  2. Type their name, and their age if you know it: “30!” then pops up in gold balloons inside the card.
  3. Choose 🙂 Cartoon character, or 📸 With a real head: the photo is cut out on your phone and their face lands on a costume (superhero, Martian, beach bum…).
  4. Grab the red ball and pull the lever: the three reels spin (the hero, the gag, the scene) and the card plays. Tap a reel to pick it yourself, and “🔓 Keep” to lock it for the next spin.
  5. Write your message, or pull the little lever to get one: funny, sweet, quirky or poetic. You can always edit it.
  6. Tap “Send 🚀”: text message, WhatsApp, email, another app or a link to copy. They open an envelope, and their card plays.

What they receive

A message like “🎂 Olivia, I made you an animated birthday card! Open it”, with a link. They tap it, open an envelope, watch the scene with their name in the middle of the gag, then read your signed message. A “💬 Reply” button lets them thank you in one tap.

The card opens in the browser on any phone or computer: there's no app to install, for you or for them.

Birthday message ideas

  • “Happy birthday! You're not getting older, you're becoming a collector's edition.”
  • “30: the age when you start saying ‘at my age’ as a joke. Enjoy it while it's still a joke!”
  • “One more candle, still zero wisdom. We love you exactly like that.”
  • “Happy birthday, Grandma! Thank you for the cookies, the hugs and all the secrets you kept.”
  • “For your 50th we tried to put all the candles on the cake. The fire department said no.”
  • “Happy birthday to the person who makes Mondays at the office bearable.”
  • “May this year bring you belly laughs, long naps and extra-large slices of cake.”
  • “I can't be there to blow out the candles with you, so I'm sending a rocket instead.”

Out of ideas? The machine's little lever suggests a new message with every pull, in the tone you choose.

For an office birthday or a big party

At work, a card signed by the whole team beats a single message: tap “👥 Make it a group card”, share the link, and every coworker adds a message and their face. Everything is explained on the online group card page.

Planning a party for a milestone birthday? Announce the date first with a scratch-off save the date: choose “Birthday” as the event, and the age shows up in gold balloons there too. And if the guest of honor mustn't find out, use the surprise birthday party invitation.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes: no account, no subscription, no payment. Only the messages written by AI are limited to 10 per day per device; after that, the machine offers unlimited “surprise messages”.

Can I schedule the card for their birthday?

Cardiboo never sends anything for you: you get a link and you send it yourself, whenever you like. So you can make the card ahead of time, keep the link and send it on the morning of their birthday.

What happens to the photo?

The face is cut out on your device. Only the small cut-out head is uploaded to our server, and only if you send a card with a head; it is deleted after 90 days along with the card. Only use photos you have the right to share.

Do they need to install anything?

No. The card opens in the browser on their phone or computer, on iPhone and Android alike.

Can I make the card in another language?

Yes: the machine speaks English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Italian (🌐 button). Whoever receives the card can switch languages too.
