About Cardiboo

Cardiboo is a free animated card machine. You pick an occasion, type a name, pull a lever, and a little scene plays with that name right in the middle of the gag. You can add a real face, hide news under a scratch-off, ask “Will you be my bridesmaid?”, announce a date or have a whole group sign one card.

Who is behind Cardiboo

Cardiboo is published by Christelle Chocho, a sole trader based in France, who is also its publishing director. The site is hosted by OVH, in France. Full details (company number, postal address) are in the legal notice, which is in French with a summary in English at the bottom.

How the cards are made

  • Characters, drawings, animations and sounds are made for Cardiboo: no images or music are taken from elsewhere.
  • The face in the card is cut out right in your browser, using MediaPipe (Google, Apache 2.0 license). The original photo is never uploaded: only the small cut-out head goes to our server, and only if you send a card with a face.
  • The little messages are either “surprise messages” put together by the machine itself, or suggestions written by an AI (Claude, by Anthropic), limited to 10 per day per device. For those suggestions, only the occasion, the tone, the language and the first name (if you typed one) are sent, never a photo.

What we promise

  • Free, no account: no sign-up, no email address, no password.
  • Automatic deletion: cards, faces, group-card messages and save-the-date replies delete themselves after 90 days, and sooner on request through the Contact page.
  • Your data is never sold or rented. No advertising cookies and no audience measurement are active today.
  • Ads: to cover its costs, Cardiboo may later show ads on the card idea pages, never inside the machine or on a card someone receives, and only after asking for your cookie consent where the law requires it. This page will be updated when that happens.

How the card idea pages are written

The card idea pages (birthday, save the date, group card, gender reveal…) describe what the machine really does: every step quotes the buttons as they appear, and every example is a real card you can receive. They are written with the help of AI tools, adapted to each language rather than translated word for word, then checked: accuracy of the steps, links, display on phones. No made-up numbers, no fake reviews. They are updated when the machine changes; if you spot a mistake, let us know.

Six languages

The machine and its idea pages exist in English, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German and Italian. A card keeps the sender's language, and whoever receives it can switch languages with one tap (🌐).
